To the Black Women that ARE &/or HAVE been in my life:

Thank you for teaching me about grit and perseverance for close to 30 years.

Thank you for teaching me how to be a leader in the household and lead others.

Thank you for teaching me how to SHOW love .

Thank you for teaching me that pain is always only temporary.

Thank you for listening to the craziness in college.

Thank you for being YOUR own BOSS.

Thank you for encouraging education and reading at a young age.

Thank you for sitting me down and making me write in cursive repeatedly for hours.

Thank you for teaching me how to question and critically think about issues.

Thank you for teaching me how to navigate a world that doesn’t love me or my skin color.

Thank you for always making sure we had food to eat on the table.

Thank you for teaching me about male privilege and how to be a better ally.

Thank you for being trendsetters.

Thank you for inspiring me.

Thank you for traveling and showing me the world when the world didn’t want to see me or my skin.

Thank you for teaching me how to be a better father than my own father could EVER do.

Thank you for allowing me to enter into a developmental circle in college.

Thank you for never wavering despite what others may feel about me.

Thank you for showing me to never give up on a dream.

Thank you for putting up with my s***.

Thank you for loving the brotherhood and #zoomin alongside us.

Thank you for showing me how to laugh in the face of danger and reminding me of who I AM.

Thank you for challenging me to be a better (BLACK) man each and every day.

Thank you for showing me the meaning of transcending and mending misconceptions.

Thank you for encouraging me to step through the window of my mind and learning what they said can’t be learned. #ckes

Thank you for continuously looking to support Black men when at times, we don’t support you.

Thank you for giving me food when I could not provide for myself.

Thank you for ensuring that I made it home safely after many nights of partying.

Thank you for always remind me that I am a role model.

Thank you for being a shoulder to cry on when life didn’t feel like being so kind to me.

Thank you for being excellent colleagues and #squad.

Thank you for being such an intellectual and a great writer.

Thank you for never giving up on me.

Thank you for checking me to ensure that I don’t lose my life.

Thank you for loving me.

Thank you for being an amazing Queen.
